Turn out the Lights: the 2016 Atlanta Hawks

If you’re new to the blog, you probably don’t know about my seasonal “Turn out the lights” series involving Atlanta sports teams. Every few months, ATL Sports continue to crush my soul a little more. Being a miserable Atlanta fan is something I’ve become accustom to.

A Look Back:

This was a weird season for the Hawks. They came out of the gate slow after a stellar year last season, and never really found a groove. Trade rumors plagued the team all season, and I’m pretty sure we’ll learn that a few players were more injured than they let on. My season outlook highlighted the losses of two key players in Demarre Carrol and Pero Antic, which ended up really hurting the Hawks this season.

In the end, this is it for a LONG time for hawks fans. We’re probably going to get rid of Al Horford, and Jeff Teague in the off season, and we’ll probably regress to the mediocre eastern conference team that’s fighting for an 8th seed on the final day of the season, only to get bounced in the 1st round of the playoffs. That’s the exact team that the Hawks have been for the better part of the  last decade.

Just a completely irrelevant franchise.

A Look Ahead:

The thing that sucks about the season ending, is that the Braves are currently on pace to be the worst teams in baseball history, so there is absolutely nothing to look forward to in ATL sports other than the UGA Bulldogs who don’t start playing for another 4 months. It’s going to be a long summer.
