NY Daily– A former member of the New York Knicks now playing for the Indiana Pacers was stabbed in the abdomen — and his wife slashed — during an argument at 1 OAK club in Chelsea early Wednesday, cop sources said.
Chris Copeland’s attacker was arrested, and two members of the Atlanta Hawks, Pero Antić and Thabo Sefolosha, were also booked, for trying to prevent police from setting up a crime scene, the sources said.
Bizzare stuff from outside a NY club last night around 4 a.m.
The Hawks Thabo Sefolosha and Pero Antic were only in NYC for a few hours, and decided it would be a great Idea to meet up with Indiana Pacers Forward Chris Copeland. The Pacers were in town for the Knicks, and the Hawks are playing the Nets tomorrow night.
The Hawks had just come off a win where Thabo and Pero had combined for 32 points in their blowout win over Phoenix. They were both arrested for allegedly blocking police as they tried to set up a crime scene.
How dumb can you guys be? They are the police and someone got stabbed, so please move and let them do their job. It’s really not that hard to stay out of trouble. You guys are key pieces to a legitimate championship contender this year. How can you have such poor judgement?!? If coach Bud hasn’t explained it to you, then take it from me: nothing good happens after 2 a.m.
Obviously, there will be a lot more to come out on this case as the day progresses, but I wanted all my Hawks readers to be the first to know. I hope that everyone involved in the stabbing ends up okay, and that we can keep the rest of the Hawks out of the clink.
Sefolosha is averaging 5.3 ppg, and 4.3 rpg in about 14 minutes a game this season.
Antic is averaging 5.9 ppg and 2.9 rpg in just under 10 minutes a game this season.
